Steps and precautions for washing clothes
Washing clothes is an important craftsmanship link that gives clothes a unique texture, style and improves wear comfort. Whether it is retro and old denim or soft and skin-friendly cotton clothing, it is inseparable from the careful creation of the washing process. However, if the washing process is not properly operated, fading, deformation, damage and other problems are prone to occur. Therefore, understanding the standard steps and key precautions for washing clothes is crucial to ensuring the quality of clothes.
1. Preparation before washing
(I) Clothing inspection and classification
Before washing, you must first conduct a comprehensive inspection of the garment to check whether the clothes are damaged, whether the zipper buttons are intact, and the stain distribution. At the same time, the fabric material, color depth, thickness and washing requirements of the clothes are carefully classified. For example, separate natural fiber fabrics such as cotton and linen from chemical fiber fabrics; separate dark clothes from light-colored clothes to avoid dyeing; separate heavy jackets from thin shirts to prevent damage caused by different mechanical forces during the washing process.
(II) Choose the right detergent and additives
It is crucial to choose the right detergent according to clothing fabric and washing needs. For protein fiber fabrics such as wool and silk, gentle neutral detergents should be used to avoid alkaline detergents from destroying the fiber structure; for ordinary cotton clothing, conventional neutral or weakly alkaline detergents can be used; for special fabrics such as denim, special denim detergents may be required. In addition, additives are added according to actual conditions. For example, to prevent clothes from fading, anti-fading agents can be added, softeners can be added to increase softness, and stain removers can be used to remove stubborn stains.
(III) Pretreatment of stains
For stubborn stains on clothes, pretreatment is required before washing. For oil stains, you can use dishwashing detergent or special oil removal agent to apply on the stain, and let it sit for a while and then rub it gently; for water-soluble stains such as sweat stains, juice stains, you can soak them in clean water and apply an appropriate amount of laundry detergent or soap for local treatment. However, be careful to avoid excessive scrubbing during pretreatment to avoid damaging the fabric and dye.
2. Operation steps during the washing process
(I) Set the washing parameters
After putting the classified clothes into the washing equipment, set appropriate washing parameters according to the fabric and washing requirements of the clothes. It mainly includes water temperature, washing time, washing mode and mechanical force magnitude. Generally speaking, the water temperature for cotton clothes is controlled at 30-40℃, and the washing time is 15-20 minutes; the water temperature for delicate fabrics such as wool and silk should not exceed 30℃, and the washing time is controlled at 10-15 minutes, and a gentle washing mode should be selected; for thicker fabrics such as denim, the water temperature can be appropriately increased to 40-50℃, and the washing time is 20-30 minutes. At the same time, adjust the mechanical force reasonably according to the quantity of clothes and equipment performance to avoid deformation or damage to the clothes due to excessive stirring and kneading.
(II) Add detergent and additives
After adding an appropriate amount of water to the equipment, add detergent and additives in turn according to the instructions to ensure that they are fully dissolved. For powdered detergents, they can be dissolved in a small amount of water before pouring them into the equipment; for liquid detergents and additives, they can be poured directly. After the addition is completed, start the device and allow the detergent and additive to be evenly distributed in the water, and then put it in the clothes for washing.
(III) Monitoring of the washing process
During the washing process, pay close attention to the operation of the equipment and the washing status of the clothes. If you find that your clothes are wrapped or knotted, you should stop the machine and adjust it in time to avoid damage caused by excessive local pressure; if you find that there is too much or too little foam, you should check whether the amount of detergent is appropriate; if abnormal noise or vibration occurs, you should stop the machine immediately to check whether there is a fault in the equipment.

3. Treatment steps after washing
(I) Rinse and dehydration
After the water washing is completed, the rinse operation is carried out to remove residual detergent and dirt from the clothes. Generally, 2-3 rinses are required, and the rinsing time is controlled at 5-10 minutes to ensure rinsing is clean. After rinsing, dehydrate treatment is performed and the appropriate dehydration speed and time are selected according to the characteristics of the clothing fabric. For cotton and linen fabrics that are more resistant to pulling, the dehydration speed can be controlled at 800 - 1000 rpm, and the dehydration time is 3 - 5 minutes; for fabrics that are prone to deformation such as wool and silk, the dehydration speed should be controlled at 400 - 600 rpm, and the dehydration time is 2 - 3 minutes, or the gentle dehydration mode is adopted.
(II) Drying and drying
Dehydrated clothes should be dried or dried in time. For clothes with ordinary fabrics such as cotton, linen, chemical fiber, etc., you can choose a well-ventilated and sunny place to dry, but avoid long-term exposure to the sun to prevent the fabric from aging and fading; for delicate fabrics such as wool and silk, they should be laid flat in a cool and ventilated place to prevent the clothes from being deformed due to hanging and drying. If you use a dryer, you need to choose the appropriate drying temperature and time according to the fabric of the clothing. Generally, the drying temperature of cotton clothes can be set at 60-70℃, the time is 30-40 minutes; the drying temperature of wool, silk and other fabrics should not exceed 50℃, the time is 20-30 minutes, and the low-temperature drying or cold air drying mode is adopted.
(III) Ironing and Organizing
After the clothes are dried or dried, iron and organize them as needed. When ironing, choose the appropriate temperature according to the heat resistance of the fabric, such as the ironing temperature of cotton clothes is 150-180℃, wool clothes are 120-150℃, and silk clothes are 100-120℃. At the same time, apply a wet cloth on the surface of the clothing to avoid direct ironing to damage the fabric. After ironing, organize the clothes, such as folding, hanging, etc., so that they maintain a good shape.
4. Precautions for washing clothes
(I) Strictly follow the washing mark
The washing marks on clothes are professional guidance given by the manufacturer based on fabric characteristics and process requirements, and must be strictly followed. The washing mark usually indicates the appropriate washing method, water temperature range, whether it can be bleached, drying methods and other information. Washing according to the mark can effectively avoid damage to clothes caused by improper operation.
(II) Avoid the risk of confusion
In addition to washing with color and shade, it is also important to note that clothes of different materials and different washing requirements cannot be washed in conjunction. For example, washing clothes that are prone to fading and light-colored clothes will lead to dyeing; washing clothes with decorations such as zippers and metal buttons with other clothes may scratch the fabric; washing heavy jeans and light shirts will damage the shirt due to different mechanical forces.
(III) Regular maintenance of water and washing equipment
The performance and cleaning condition of the washing equipment directly affect the washing effect and the quality of the clothes. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly maintain and clean the water washing equipment, remove dirt, impurities and residual detergent inside the equipment, check whether the equipment parts are operating normally, and ensure that the equipment is in a good working state.
Washing clothes is a systematic and meticulous process. From preparation before washing to processing after washing, every step needs to be taken seriously, and all precautions are kept in mind. Only in this way can we ensure that the garment can achieve the ideal craftsmanship effect after washing, and maintain good quality and appearance.
